Lagos Life Six Needs

Unofficial guide. Last checked 2026-10-10.

Your Lagos Life character has six needs: hunger, energy, fun, social, hygiene and bladder. They all fall over time, and work is the fastest way to empty them. This page covers what each need does and the cheapest fix for each.

What are the six needs in Lagos Life?

NeedWhat drains itCheapest fix
HungerFalls over time and faster on shift days.Eat: Amala Shitta, the market or food at home.
EnergyWork takes the biggest bite.Sleep at your home before the next shift.
FunDrops while you grind shifts for rent money.Venues, mini-games, or a trip out of the grind.
SocialFalls when you play solo for a long stretch. The city is shared, so talk to other players.
HygieneFalls slowly over the in-game day.Shower at home rather than paying at a venue.
BladderBecomes urgent faster than the others.Use the toilet at home before you travel.

Exact drain rates are not published anywhere we can verify, and guides give different numbers. Treat the order below as a priority guide, not a formula.

What happens when a need hits zero?

Players report penalties rather than a game over. The usual complaints are that a shift is wasted, pay is reduced, or the character cannot start an action until the need is topped up. We have not been able to reproduce every case, so treat it as a warning rather than a rule.

Which need should you fix first when you are broke?

The work, food and rest loop

Rent is taken every Saturday, so the week has a fixed deadline. A loop that survives it looks like this: work shifts, eat, sleep, repeat until rent is covered, then spend what is left on fun. Run your own numbers in the weekly budget calculator before you commit to a home you cannot pay for.

Lagos Life needs FAQ

How many needs does Lagos Life have?

Six: hunger, energy, fun, social, hygiene and bladder. This is the list shown in game and it is consistent across guides.

Does work drain every need?

Work drains energy the most. Hunger and hygiene keep falling while you are on shift because time passes, not because of the job itself.

Can you die of hunger in Lagos Life?

We have seen no verified report of a character dying from a need. The reported consequences are penalties and blocked actions.
